PHL Season 1 Week 7 Pro Division Recap

Week 7 Pro Division Recap

Final full week of Pro-Division action is here as we have the final push for the 4th playoff spot headlining this week. The Hooks start the week with a 13 point lead on the Camel Crushers who have a potential 18 points remaining. The Liberty based on points are the only team safely locked into the playoffs so they are fighting for position. The Beavers in second place could in theory end up tied with the Camel Crushers if one team loses out and the other wins out, but with win differential the Beavers are also confirmed to be playoff bound. The Wild only have to secure 3 points to lock in their playoff dreams and the Caribous are focusing on personal growth and giving all of their players looks at Pro Division play as their playoff hopes are unfortunately done.

Bloomington Wild v.s Calabasas Camel Crushers

The most important game of the season for the Camel Crushers as they battle it out with the Wild, playoff hopes hanging in the balance.

Game 1

Game 1 for this tense series and its a close one, but unfortunately for the Camel Crushers it does not go their way as they fall 2-1 in overtime.
A two goal night from Owen (2g) and he brings the Wild a win as he tries to chase down Meatsale for the goal scoring title. Some substitute players getting some ice and making the best of it as Imnotstamkos (1a) & ZUUUB (1a) find their way into the assist column Mat & Lumalee taking the night off to let them in the lineup. Dickiepecker (1a) & Sleepi (1a) get the other assists as everybody gets in on the action.
Trev(1g) gets the lone goal for the Camel Crushers in this one as their season is really pushed to the limits after only securing one point in the first game. Jabba (1a) & John (1a) pick up the helpers on the goal as Glensky & MikeThrowdano are held pointless.

Game 2

With the hopes of playoffs fading the Camel Crushers have to take a win here to have any semblance of hope, and unfortunately for them that is not the case. The Wild put up a 4 goal game and take the win in regulation 4-2.
Owen (3g, 1a) clearly really wants that scoring title as he puts up a 4 point night with a hat-trick leading the Wild to the win. Dickiepecker (1g,1a) picks up a goal of his own and a two point night with the substitute players continuing to make the best of their ice time. ZUUUB (4a) & Imnotstamkos (2a) having a second strong game in a row hoping to bolster their draft stock for next season. Sleepi gets the start and the win in this game.
Playoff hopes are done for the Camel Crushers with the loss in regulation. Dispite the efforts from Jabba (1g, 1a) & Trev (1g, 1a) they cant get the job done. Glensky (1a) picked up an assist and MikeThrowdano (1a) gets one of his own. Dazzle newly picked up from free agency gets the start but it isn't the result he had hoped for.

Red Deer Caribous v.s Albany Beavers

With playoffs out of the picture for the Caribous they match up with the the Beavers who are safely in the playoffs but continue their battle for placement within it.

Game 1

Game one and the Beavers came to play, and play they did as they take the commanding win 5-3 in regulation.
Meatsale (4g, 1a) explodes for a 4 goal game to remind everybody that he is still very much awake despite cooling off from the hot start to the season. Chad (1g) scores a monumental goal for him as despite his strong defensive play, and playmaking abilities he hadn't managed to grab a goal until this game. Car (4a) & Dabz (4a) each get a flurry of assists. Novastar got his first start of the season and it was in net! only allowing a pair of goals and grabbing the win.
The Caribous get a couple of goals in this steep challenge against the Beavers coming off the sticks of Oihwef (1g) & BeeGeePi (1g, 2a) score the goals while pk (1a) and Jackk (3a) are the helpers along the way.

Game 2

The pressure doesn't stop for the Beavers as they notch a second 5 goal game this time taking the win 5-0 over the Caribous.
Feeling the déjà vu as I'm writing this but Meatsale (4g, 1a) puts up his second 5 point, 4 goal performance in a row. The déjà vu ends as Car(1g, 2a) is the second goal scorer instead of Chad (4a) who got 4 assists instead this time around. Dabz (2a) gets a pair of his own and Novastar gets his second win, in his second start! This time around its a shutout!
Unfortunate end to the night for the Caribous as they don't manage to get anything together. A tough season but aforementioned they are looking at personal growth in these games and allowing everybody to get some ice time.

Philadelphia Liberty v.s Halifax Hooks

Both of these teams are officially locked into the playoffs going into this game but the bitter fight for position continues. The Hooks are looking to gain some late season steam while the Liberty look to fend off the hungry Beavers and hold onto their newly claimed first place.

Game 1

Game 1 and the Hooks manage to win in a low scoring Hooks style game taking it 2-1 in the defensive, organized style that they play.
TheLittleOwl (1g) & Dalfan (1g, 1a) pick up the goals as Bojarzin (2a) & Maus (2a) get the helpers. GudHart makes his Pro-Division debut... in net! Known as a bit of a swiss army knife kind of player he manages to grab a win in his first start for the Hooks.
Kapanen (1g) scores the lone goal for his Liberty assisted by Tony Flow (1a) & Rezy (1a). V played but was held pointless and Zebra held the books to two goals but didnt get the run support needed to win this game.

Game 2

Game 2 is very much the same story as this one features even less scoring with the league leader in 1-0 games does it again. The Hooks secure the win in overtime.
The one and only goal scored in the game comes off of the stick of Bojarzin (1g) assisted by Dalfan (1a) & Maus (1a). TheLittleOwl was held off the scoresheet and Gudhart plays his second game of goalie, gets his second win and gets a notch into the shutout column.
The Liberty fall just short in the second game in a row, this time not managing a goal what-so-ever. They iced the same lineup and unfortunately for them... they only manage the single point on the night in the overtime loss.

Philadelphia Liberty v.s Bloomington Wild

A big matchup with 2 of the top teams kick off the night, giving up a taste of what is soon to come in the playoffs as the fight for placements heats up after the Hooks secure 5/6 points on Tuesday.

Game 1

Game 1 and the Liberty come out with the win, 2-1 in regulation. A close and tense game is just what we expected to see from these two very strong teams nearing the end of the season.
Rezy (2g) scores both the goals for the Liberty in this winning effort. Kapanen (2a), Tony Flow (1a) & V (1a) pick up assists during this team centric first game of the series.
Lone goal for the Wild comes from the efforts of DickiePecker (1g) assisted by Owen (1a) & Mat (1a). Lumalee didn't manage to grab a point in this game. Sleepy gets his first start of the season and holds the Liberty to just two goals but it isn't enough to get the win in his first start.

Game 2

Game 2 and the intensity is kicked up a notch as both team find some more scoring. 3-2 is the score with the Wild securing the win and splitting the series 3 points a side.
Lumalee (1g, 2a), Owen (1g, 2a) & Mat (1g, 2a) connect for all three goals as the trio leads Sleepy bolstered by DickiePecker and his strong defensive play to his first win of the season.
Rezy (2g) doubles down on the previous game and grabs another 2 goals both of them assisted by Kapanen (2a). Tony Flow (1a) & V (1a) collect an assist a piece as well but unfortunately they couldn't hold it together defensively to get the win in front of Zebra.

Halifax Hooks v.s Albany Beavers

These two teams are like fire and ice in their playstyles, the Hooks relying on low scoring defensively sound games. While the Beavers have shown they love to score and do it often. Lets see how these games shape out.

Game 1

Game 1 and the Hooks continue their late season strength as they have really been piecing it together in the last weeks. 2-1 in overtime they secure the win.
TheLittleOwl (1g, 1a) & Bojarzin (1g) were the goal scorers. Bubba (2a) grabs a pair of assists while Dalfan (1a) picks up one. Crowbar takes the net back from Gudhart who protected it well in the last two games.
Meatsale (1g) is surprisingly to nobody the goal scorer assisted by Chad (1a) & Hijinx (1a) but it isn't enough to overcome the Hooks. Yeesh takes back the net after Novastar got the last couple of games and Car was on the ice but didn't score in this one.

Game 2

Game two and the Hooks keep their late season pressure on high as they secure their 4th win on the week, this one also 2-1 but in regulation as they earn 10/12 on the week.
Defense trumps offense in this game, lead by TheLittleOwl (1g,1a) & Bubba (1g,1a) who split the goal scoring responsibility in this game. Dalfan (1a) & Bojarzin (1a) grab the apples as Crowbar shuts the door keeping the high scoring Beavers at just one goal.
Car(1g) gets the lone goal for the Beavers in this one assisted by Chad (1a) & Meatsale (1a). Hijinx played but was held off the board and Yeesh got the start in net.

Calabasas Camel Crushers v.s Red Deer Caribous

Final game of the final full week and its an all out brawl between the bottom two teams in the league with nothing to lose.

Game 1

Game 1 is a slow moving and stalwart game, neither team wanting to take a risk. 1-0 was the final score and it was the Caribous who found the net and took the win in game 1.
Oihwef (1g) assisted by Kiwi (1a) & BeeGeePi (1a) is the connection that broke the stalemate and won the game for the Caribous. Biglar collects a shutout on the night and Jackk skated but didn't find a point in this one.
The Camel Crushers couldn't find their stride in this game. But one notable thing is that MikeThrowdano watched his team play from the sidelines as Dimitri makes his season debut after being traded from the Liberty for V.

Game 2

Game 2 is entirely a different story as the Camel Crushers slam home 4 goals and shut the door, earning them a 4-0 victory.
In the dying games of the year Dimitri (2g, 1a) is given a chance to show what he's got and takes full advantage of it as he grabs a 3 point night with 2 goals. MikeThrowdano (1g, 2a) comes into the game with Jabba sitting this one out and gets 3 points of his own. Trev (1g, 1a) gets a pair and Glensky (4a) serves as dish master grabbing 4 assists on the night. John earns the shutout and the Camel Crushers end the week on a high note.
Not the greatest end of the week for the Caribous but without playoff hopes in the picture it should be easier to shrug it off.
