PHL Season 2 Week 2 "Weekly Fly-By"

Week 2

Another week in the books and teams begin to settle into their rosters addressing some gaps that they might see in roster. Most of witch are solved through free agency apart from in division 3 where we see a cluster of trades ranging from later round player swaps to key pieces being exchanged in hopes of seeing new and more fresh looks.

Standout Performances

Ottawa Sparks V.S Las Vegas Neon (7-0 SPA)
Before this game there had only been a handful of games decided by 3 or more goals across the entire PHL, none of witch had more then a 4 goal differential... until this game. This is not only the biggest blowout of the season, this is the biggest blowout in an official PHL league match so far.

The Ottawa Sparks came to play against the Las Vegas Neon who were giving newly acquired Silk his first look at division 1 action. MikeThrowdano, Dalfan, Adobe, and Silk lined up in front of ThrockMorton who stood across from the Ottawa Sparks and their lineup of ZUUUUB, Paco, Glensky, Baygull and The Gold Trader.

Paco ( 3g,3a) would lead the way offensively but wouldn't have the only hattrick of the night as Glensky (3g, 1a) also puts 3 into the Neon net. Defenders ZUUUUB (1g, 5a) & Baygull (4a) were the dish masters feeding the offense and allowing them to run ramped.

ThrockMorton lets in a pair of goals before Bigman got his first look at Pro Division action. This game didn't work out exactly the way that the Neon were hoping but not all is lost as they cleaned up their act for game 2, still unable to find the back of the net but only allowing one goal.

Rogue of the Whitehorse Whiteout

To preface Rogue is a teammate of mine on the Whitehorse and a draft pick of mine in Prospect Division so I realize that knowing him makes his successes more apparent to me, but stats are stats and facts are facts.

In season 1 only 2 players were rostered across all divisions. Pinks0 who was drafted as a sub in Pro & Contender Division then as a starter in Prospect. Dazzle was the second player but he was only drafted in Contender & Prospect and was later picked up in Pro Division Later in the season.

Rogue and another player to be named later were both picked up in Pro Division meaning they are now rostered across all divisions making them the Pinks0 & Dazzle of Season two. Rogue's first task as a goalie in division 1 was to try and fend off the high flying offense of Owen & Bubba of Crescent City... tall ask for a goalie not only new to Pro Division but also new to the PHL as he was not in season 1. Rogue let in just one goal in the first game, but 5 in the second game unable to secure a win in his first two starts but in the next 4 games he puts the pads on for he has allowed just one goal, secured 3 shutouts and 4 wins straight for the Whitehorse.

Taken as a 7th round pick by the Schuylkill Channel Cats in Contender Division & in the 6th round by the Port Stanley Stachios in Prospect Division Rogue now faces that the best of PHL Season 2 has to offer in the Pro Division.

Silk of the Las Vegas Neon

Silk is another player now rostered across all divisions and is also a rookie to the PHL just like rogue is. His time in Pro Division is only just beginning having made his debut for the Neon on Thursday August the 28th so I'm going to focus on his time outside of Pro Division to highlight the skillset he potentially brings to the Neon.

Drafted in the 7th round to the Waco Weathermen Silk wasn't widely known but his reputation as a skater got him picked up in Contender as Waco took a flyer on a guy who hadn't been seen around the PHL very much but his reputation was being talked about. Quick meaningful handles and good vision was his calling card as his name rumbled through the teams around draft time. Despite being grabbed in the 7th round Silk has lined up for the Weathermen in all 8 of their games so far as they quickly realized that Silk was quite the diamond in the rough. Silk sits tied for second in points in the league with 6 goals, 6 assists for 12 points in 8 games. DyslexicWarlus (6g, 6a) a 4th round pick showing promise above his draft position & Panther (4g, 8a) who was the second overall pick are tied with Silk and all 3 are beaten out by Jack (4g, 9a) who was a 3rd round pick by the Hawaiian High Rollers.
